SARAH TO SHARE STAGE WITH OBAMA AT ALFALFA DINNER!!!

Palin, Obama to share stage
By JONATHAN MARTIN | 1/29/09

The Alaska governor and former GOP vice presidential nominee, making her first trip to the nation’s capital since the election, will join the President at the Alfalfa Dinner, a venerable gathering of the city’s political elite.

In what could be a preview of the 2012 presidential race, Sarah Palin and Barack Obama will share a stage together this Saturday night in Washington, Politico has learned.

The Alaska governor and former GOP vice presidential nominee, making her first trip to the nation’s capital since the election, will join the president at the Alfalfa Dinner, a venerable gathering of the city’s political elite.

The president is scheduled to address the black tie crowd at the Capital Hilton. Palin spokesman Bill McAllister said in an email that Palin would be speaking at the dinner.

An Alfalfa Club member, however, said that no speech by the Alaska governor was planned.

The duo would not, though, be heard by the general public. By tradition, the old world gathering, now in its 96th year, bars reporters. Quotes from the rostrum do, however, tend to find their way out to reporters in the lobby.

It’s a light-hearted affair, with political types playfully roasting themselves and one another. The dinner is put on by the Alfalfa Club, an exclusive list of about 200 movers and shakers whose only purpose is to throw the annual dinner on the last Saturday of January. The name is honor of a plant known to do anything for a drink.

Comprised of mostly older white men, the group didn’t induct women until 1993. Blacks were only welcomed in the 1970s.

Presidents, though, almost always attend and speak.

And aside from the real thing, club members always nominate a mock candidate for the highest office in the land. The “nominee” is then required to give an acceptance speech.

Should Palin be this year’s lucky nominee, she’ll be in good company: Three honorees have actually gone on to actually become president – Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

Sarah Palin Unveils National 'SarahPAC' Organization

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

By: David A. Patten

In a major step closer to a future run for national office, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Tuesday established SarahPAC, a political action committee expected to play a key role in financing upcoming political endeavors.

“SarahPAC believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of a historic renaissance that will build a better future for all,” the SarahPAC.com Web site announced Tuesday. “Health care, education, and reform of government are among our key goals.”

The site, which invites donations, calls energy independence “a cornerstone of the economic security and progress that every American family wants and deserves.”

NBC’s Norah O’Donnell characterized the creation of the fund-raising organization as “a sign Sarah Palin wants to continue to be a player on the national political stage.” O’Donnell added that the Virginia-based PAC “is modeled after HillPAC, Hillary Clinton’s former political committee. Palin’s committee allows her to raise money for other Republicans.”

The PAC Web site describes the organization as “Dedicated to building America's future, supporting fresh ideas and candidates who share our vision for reform and innovation.”

The Alaska governor’s popularity remains undiminished since the election. O’Donnell reports Sen. John MCain’s running mate has over 465,300 supporters on Facebook.

BOOK AND/OR TV DEAL IN SARAH'S FUTURE???

Book, TV deal in Sarah Palin's future?
Politician enlisting help of superstar D.C. attorney
By Paul J. Gough

Jan 22, 2009

NEW YORK -- It looks like Sarah Palin may be ready to tell her remarkable story in print.

The former GOP vice presidential candidate has apparently enlisted the help of superstar Washington attorney Robert Barnett, who has brokered book deals for such political A-listers as President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Additionally, he has handled TV deals for a lot of top anchors and reporters such as Brian Williams, Lesley Stahl, Neil Cavuto, Christiane Amanpour and Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

While not an immediate option, TV news is considered an intriguing possible future career path for the telegenic Palin.

Reached by telephone late Wednesday, Barnett said he had no comment.

In the past few weeks, Palin has gone on the offensive, lashing out at the media for they way she and her family have been portrayed, potentially paving the way for her to tell her story in her own words.

There's been a lot of buzz about the future of Palin, who is halfway through her first term as Alaska governor. She's mentioned as a possible 2012 presidential candidate following her sudden rise to stardom after being picked in late August as Sen. John McCain's running mate.

But with her good looks and engaging personality, she also has been bandied as a potential TV personality along the lines of other prominent politicians who have transitioned to television, including Mike Huckabee.

Barnett, who handled Obama's "The Audacity of Hope," already is shopping a book about the 2008 presidential campaign. He recently signed Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, to shop his book about the winning campaign tentatively titled "The Audacity to Win."

The Alaska governor's press office didn't immediately respond to a call and an email seeking comment.

SARAH PALIN: INDESTRUCTIBLE!!!

Close your eyes and IMAGINE a politician who is NOT CORRUPT, doesn't play pay-to-play politics, as a matter of fact she FIGHTS THOSE PEOPLE!! SHE GETS RID OF THEM! Imagine a politician who works for YOU. Without strings attached. Someone who doesn't CHEAT AND BUY HIS WAY INTO THE PRESIDENCY? Sound good to you? It does to me, too. Imagine that person is Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. Perhaps our next president in 2012!!

SARAH PALIN 2012: HEART AND SOUL!!!

TEAM SARAH CO-FOUNDER DEFENDS SARAH ON FOX NEWS!!!

What the left HATE about Sarah is what her fans LOVE about her! She is REAL. She looks, speaks, and acts like an every day person. But that does not take away from the FACT she is NOT a Bimbo, she is NOT dumb. She is NOT all the negative things that are continually said about her. Unfortunately, John McCain has not lived up to his praise of Governor Palin since the end of the election as he did before. In an interview last night with Sean Hannity, he still insists he cares for her and she will be on the national stage in the future.

I think the main reason the LEFT HATE her so much is because she is DANGEROUS. Even four (4) years ahead of time, they are shitting their pants worrying that she may just BE the GOP nominee in 2012. WHY do they fear her if she is so dumb or she is just a bimbo? WHY? BECAUSE SHE'S NOT!!

SHE'S NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE!!!

Almost three months have passed since the election and the HATRED for this woman continues. Thank God for groups like TEAM SARAH.ORG. We have over 63,000 members. Hopefully, this group will grow by leaps and bounds. I hope Sarah will have the opportunity to keep herself in the spotlight so she can be the GOP nominee in 2012. HEAR THAT, BARACK OBAMA???

Not Sarah's folks

The conservative TeamSarah site has caught liberals trying to defame Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her online backers by posing as "sock puppet" conservatives to post incendiary content.

The leaders at the 63,000-member site noted weird posts late in the week "from individuals who seemed overwhelmingly racist, bigoted, and in general unsavory sorts posing as Palin, and traditionalist values, supporters."

According to an account by William Collier at the RedState diary, the Freedomist, Team Sarah has 15 pages of evidence, including "screen shots, ID's, and IP's of a number of individuals who have planned an effort, and attempted to implement it, to act as agent provocateurs and discredit Team Sarah by planting racist and other unsavory material as if they were members."

The charges of racism at Team Sarah have been made at the Huffington Post and elsewhere in the liberal blogosphere.

"It is the equivalent of framing the innocent, it is pure dirty tricks. And it is vile. We call upon all principled Liberals to condemns these actions," Mr. Collier wrote.

Mr. Collier blamed the attacks on an "aptly named" site called somethingawful.com and linked to excerpts of the discussions there. A sample:

• "It's our duty to steer the site away from reason and into the realms of racism and insanity just in time for the 2012 primaries."

• "Let's see how many people I can race bait."

• "Also is america4AMERICANS one of us or what."

SARAH SAYS THE MEDIA IS GOING EASY ON KENNEDY!!!

Palin: Media goes easy on Kennedy
By ANDY BARR | 1/8/09

Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) believes Caroline Kennedy is getting softer press treatment in her pursuit of the New York Senate seat than Palin did as the GOP vice presidential nominee because of Kennedy’s social class.

“I’ve been interested to see how Caroline Kennedy will be handled and if she will be handled with kid gloves or if she will be under such a microscope,” Palin told conservative filmmaker John Ziegler during an interview Monday for his upcoming documentary film, “How Obama Got Elected.” Excerpts from the interview were posted on YouTube Wednesday evening.

“It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Palin said she remains subject to unfair press coverage of her and her family.

“Is it political? Is it sexism?” she asked. “What is it that drives someone to believe the worst and perpetuate the worst in terms of gossip and lies?”

She observed that Katie Couric and Tina Fey have been “capitalizing on” and “exploiting” her.

“I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen,” she said. “And I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration. That’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”

The Alaska governor said that when she sees some of the coverage of her daughter Bristol especially “the momma grizzly rises up in me.”

Looking back on the Couric interviews, Palin said she knew things were not going well after their first session and asked the McCain campaign to pull the plug on the remaining sit downs but insisted the campaign made her go through with the rest.

“I knew it didn’t go well the first day, and then we gave her a couple of other segments after that. And my question to the campaign was, after it didn’t go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more?” she said. “Because of however it works in that upper echelon of power brokering in the media and with spokespersons, it was told to me that, yeah, we are going to go back for more. And going back for more was not a wise decision either.”

Palin criticized Couric for the way CBS “spliced it together,” saying that “so many of the topics brought up were not portrayed as accurately as they could have, should have, been.”

She also expressed frustration with Couric’s characterization of her since the interviews. After being shown a clip of Couric complaining to David Letterman that no post-election interviewer has asked Palin why she would not tell the CBS anchor what newspapers she reads, the Alaska governor responded: “Because, Katie, you’re not the center of everybody’s universe.”

HILLARY SUPPORTERS VOTE FOR SARAH!!!

COUNT ME AMONG THEM!!

SARAH INTERVIEWED FOR DOCUMENTARY "MEDIA MALPRACTICE"!!!

Video Exclusive: A Revealing Morning With Sarah Palin
by John Ziegler

If someone told me five months ago that in early January I would pay over $1,400 for an incredibly inconvenient plane ticket and $120 for a 3 a.m. cab fare to get from sunny Los Angeles to Wasilla, Alaska, I would have told them there was a better chance the Dow Jones would be below 9,000 and a gallon of gas less than two dollars.

If they would have told me I’d be glad to have made the journey (even with a seven-hour, weather-aided stop in Seattle), I would have told them Sarah Palin had a better chance to be John McCain’s running-mate. Of course, as we all now know this turned out to be true. And even though I still have the flu I got just before the trip, I’m thrilled to have experienced minus-eleven degrees in Alaska.

Obviously, I was there to interview Governor Palin for my forthcoming documentary about the media coverage of election 2008. My understanding is that the only reason Governor Palin did this interview (while rejecting hundreds of other requests) is because of her sincere devotion to setting the record straight on what really happened during the campaign and to determine why the news coverage was as dangerously slanted as it so clearly was.

Largely because of absurd claims by Democrats that she was violating ethics rules by answering campaign questions on state grounds (one of several ways in which the Democrats in Alaska, who used to love her, are now fully invested in the “take Sarah Palin down” industry), we did the interview at the Palin home. At 9 a.m., without a security guard or handler in sight, Bristol Palin, eight days removed from giving birth, politely answered the door and Governor Palin, not yet fully put together, rushed out to tell myself and my crew to make ourselves at home.

One of the things you quickly learn when you visit the Palins is that the legend created around who they are and how they live is no myth. It appears to be absolutely real and everything about them seems 100% sincere. From the stuffed hunting trophies on the wall, to Track’s military photo by the TV set, to Piper’s crayon school projects on the refrigerator door - everything is exactly as you imagined.

What’s particularly valuable about my perspective is that I am not Charlie Gibson, Matt Lauer or Greta Van Susteren (who I understand now gets her mail delivered to the Palin home) — the conductors of the three most prominent interviews done in this Wasilla home on a frozen lake at the end of a drive with the sign “Palins” posted on a tree. I am virtually unknown nationally and there was absolutely no reason for anything to be done differently as “show” for us. We saw the genuine Sarah Palin and it is patently obvious this is the only one who exists.

She is the real deal.

As a former TV sportscaster and radio talk show host I’ve interviewed a lot big-time “celebrities,” and can honestly say that even though you could argue Sarah Palin was the most prominent, she is also by far the nicest, most sincere and seemingly honest subject I’ve ever questioned.

For context, I admit to being a Sarah Palin fan even before she was named John McCain’s VP candidate. I attended her convention speech and consider it by far to be the finest I have ever personally witnessed. But being a world-class cynic I also wondered if maybe there was at least some truth to the negative media narrative created about her. Maybe she really wasn’t that smart, maybe she was indeed a “diva” or a “wack job.” Well, if any of those smears are remotely true, Palin should move to LA permanently because she’s a far better actor (not to mention better looking) than the vast majority of actresses in Hollywood.

Our interview started early and ended late (ask Barbara Walters how often that happens at this level). The Governor fully answered every question, even though some of them brought up media episodes which clearly upset her. When the subject turned to her kids being targeted, she was even a little emotional. She then posed for pictures and signed autographs for the entire crew, and casually discussed all sorts of topics, including how the local newspaper is absurdly still trailing the “story” that her youngest son is not really hers (this, while Todd walked around with Trig on his back and Bristol cared for Trip, her newborn, in a nearby bedroom; even Trig conspiracy theorist Andrew Sullivan would have had a hard time not seeing the insanity in his own delusion).

The madness of the local paper’s efforts to prove Trig is really not Sarah’s baby is not all we learned in post interview conversations. Conservatives will be thrilled to know she immediately “got” and seemed to fully appreciate my joke that Pete Wilson (and not Arnold Schwarzenegger) would go down as the last Republican Governor in the history of California. If that wasn’t enough, when she looked at the back cover of my first film (“Blocking the Path to 9/11” www.blockingthepath.com) and saw the photo of one of the film’s targets, Keith Olbermann, she literally let out a shriek and, pointing to his photograph, declared, “THAT guy is EVIL!”

Beyond the great interview for the film (from which there is still plenty of tremendous stuff yet to come), the most important part of my visit to the Palin home was learning there’s a big difference between thinking something is true and knowing for sure it is. I now know Sarah Palin is exactly who I thought she was.

I also know, with moral certitude, that the media assassination of her, her character and family, was one of the greatest public injustices of our time and that I’m totally justified in devoting my life to correcting the historical record in my forthcoming film, “Media Malpractice… How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Smeared.”
******************************************************************
MY THOUGHTS:

Didn't Sarah do a good job with this interview? I am so happy to see that there will be a documentary on the blatant MEDIA BIAS that has taken place these past two years. The media has been so in love with Obama that it is truly nauseating! It's true what Sarah said. If somehow SHE were the V.P. for Obama, you would have seen and read a totally different take on Sarah and her family because she would not have been a THREAT to the presidency of their precious Obama! 2008 was truly the year that both the media and democracy died!!

THANK YOU, JOE SCARBOROUGH, FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH!!!

This video is a segment from MORNING JOE (MSNBC) in mid-December. Joe, who I have to admit was ALWAYS FAIR when talking about candidates whether they were Democrats or Republicans, is speaking out loud and clear to the embarrassment and egg-on-their-faces Obambots who did NOTHING TO INVESTIGATE OBAMA, a man in the senate for one year before running for president, who came from the most CORRUPT city - Chicago. Instead, they sent the press to Wasilla, Alaska, to go through Sarah Palin's e-mails, the library to see if she had tried to ban books (SHE DID NOT!!!), covered made-up stories (AS FACT!) that she was not the mother of her Downs Syndrome baby!

There are still a few honest reporters and journalists or in this case, news anchors, on a station other than FOX NEWS. So thank you, Joe. I am glad someone had the BALLS to say what millions of Americans have been thinking for the past two years!!!

KUDOS TO GRETA FOR DEFENDING SARAH!!!

Greta Van Susteren Slams CNN For Insulting Sarah Palin
January 6, 2009
Huffington Post

Greta Van Susteren has taken to her blog, GretaWire, to again hit CNN — this time for insulting Sarah Palin publicly and privately issuing an apology.

CNN included Palin on its year-end list of politicians who fell from grace in 2008. Although the network has since removed her from the list, it did so quietly, without any trace that she ever appeared alongside politicians like Eliot Spitzer, John Edwards, and Rod Blagojevich.

Greta also reports that CNN relayed to Palin, through a producer, an apology for including her on the list, though they did not publicly acknowledge the situation, leaving Greta with two questions:

1/ why didn't CNN PUBLICLY apologize for this one? they sure unfairly trashed her publicly on that list....should not exposure of the apology equal the round the world exposure of the unfair trashing? That is what is done in court - you do what is necessary to make the person whole in the damage done to the person...and then it is over.

2/ a producer? why did she get stuck doing the dirty work on this one? why didn't someone higher up the corporate food chain send the message of apology if CNN really means it? the job stature of the person making the apology can mean much. This IS the Governor of the largest state...a former candidate for VP....and the trashing went world wide and was really lousy....

Greta routinely takes to GretaWire to blast CNN — recently, to challenge network execs for laying staffers off shortly before the holidays, and famously last year to accuse CNN of "cooking the books" to boost Anderson Cooper's ratings.
*******************************************************
MY THOUGHTS:

The NERVE of CNN to compare Governor Sarah Palin, a woman who fights corruption, even in her own party, to the sleasy, corrupt male politicians. Enough with the hatred of this woman, already! And Thank you, Greta!! You are always fair in your reporting. That's why FOX NEWS is the only news station I watch anymore!

LIBERAL CONSPIRACY TO FRAME AND DEFAME TEAMSARAH: BUSTED!! (FROM: REDSTATE)

Liberal Conspiracy to Frame and Defame TeamSarah: Busted!
Posted by William Collier Jr

Community Governance Adviser- Team Sarah

Administrator-The Freedom Congress USA http://www.freedomist.org

TeamSarah.org, an online community of over 63,000 who admire Sarah Palin and all she stands for, currently is experiencing an attempt at framing the whole community as guilty of unsavory racist behavior. This apparently is part of an overall attempt by the the worst elements of the progressive faction, conduct for which all liberals should be ashamed to be associated, even indirectly.

This was started, for example at DemocracyUnderground (which brags that it intends to turn the word conservative “radioactive”) — well before that unfair and arguably defamatory piece was published in The Huffington Post, an extremist liberal website that evidently does not police its own content for accuracy. It is shocking that the HuffPo dropped any pretense of journalistic standards — like, for instance, simply calling TeamSarah and its proprietor, the Susan B. Anthony List, for a balanced picture, before running a recent attack on TeamSarah.

Thanks go out to Kelley S who serves TeamSarah brilliantly as a guardian, going out on patrol, looking for invaders who are attempting to frame and defame the community.

Thanks to Kelly, we now have screen shots, ID’s, and IP’s of a number of individuals who have planned an effort, and attempted to implement it, to act as agent provocateurs and discredit Team Sarah by planting racist and other unsavory material as if they were members.

Today, January 2, people have seen weird posts from individuals who seemed overwhelmingly racist, bigoted, and in general unsavory sorts posing as Palin, and traditionalist values, supporters.

As you well know, the Huffington Post alleged that Team Sarah was racist, bigoted, and hateful. Not so! TeamSarah strives to live up to the high standards of decency and humanity exemplified by Gov. Palin. And we do a good job of it. We moderate posts, guide members, and work intently to keep the standards of the site high. The most unsavory leftist elements are doing something weirdly similar, in cyberspace, to the arson committed against Gov. Palin’s church in Wasilla, Alaska. And trying to set us up to take the blame for their vile actions.

We now have the evidence of what we suspected all along: the liberal extremists have been creating “sock puppets,” fake people whose sole mission is to come to TeamSarah, post horrible things, and then make copies of these posts to “prove” that we are bigots and cretins. It is the equivalent of framing the innocent, it is pure dirty tricks. And it is vile. We call upon all principled Liberals to condemns these actions. This is not the first time this has happened. We have also documented “dirty tricks” from DemocracyUnderground.com http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7495801&mesg_id=7498189and from YAforObama.com
http://yaforobama.ning.com/profiles/blogs/trolling-team-sarah-reposted.

We will not REACT and let these attacks cause us to mistrust one another or become distracted. TeamSarah is standing by our very high community standards. We can only call upon sites like SomethingAwful.com, Huffingpost.com, YAforObama.com, and DemocracyUnderground.com to behave with similar decency.

As ALWAYS if someone violates TeamSarah’s community standards, we ask our members to report them and not get drawn into their unethical game. And then we investigage promptly, taking down any racist or other unseemly postings.

The website they organized this attack from is called “somethingawful.com.” We must admit, it is aptly named. Some of the comments are illuminating:

TeamSarah has compiled over 15 pages of evidence on file from this conspiracy. Thank you to the extremist liberals who have provided fresh evidence as to what really is going on: that they send in “clones” (false identities) to say and do things that we do not tolerate, and, in the short time it takes us to find and eliminate these posts take a screen shot of them, and then post about it in poorly managed liberal websites, ones that have abandoned all journalistic standards, from which it gets echoes throughout the liberal blogosphere as if true.

Poorly managed sites such as, apparently, the $100 million Huffington Post which seems not to care about even the most basic standards of fairness in reporting. I guess that kind of money can be blinding, but: “What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his (or her) soul“?
*************************************************************************
MY THOUGHTS:

I know a couple of weeks ago I did read where TeamSarah was very racist. I was shocked. This was NOT how this site was run and I had never seen or read anything racist or inflammatory at all. An article on TeamSarah itself and this article shows just where this is coming from. Does it remind YOU of the Obama paid bloggers that trashed Hillary during the primaries? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

The big question is two part: 1) Do these people really have nothing better to do with their time? Or do they in their sick, demented minds, believes this is a positive thing to do for their own cause? And by THAT, I mean they are already worrying about Obama's run in 2012! And 2) WHY are these OBAMABOTS so fearful and terrified of Governor Palin? After all, they won and got their empty suit elected. All their THUGGERY, CORRUPTION, ILLEGAL CONTRIBUTIONS, THREATENING, BRIBING, PAY-OFFS, ETC. worked. So why worry four years ahead of time. Is Sarah that threatening to them? Perhaps she is not the "ditzy" hockey mom they make her out to be after all.

FLASHBACK: SARAH AT IRISH PUB IN PHILADELPHIA - SEPT. 2008

Aren't these two videos fun? I LOVE how the woman taking Sarah's food order asks her "What's your name?" And Sarah answers "Sarah" very casually and matter-of-fact!! LOL!! Boy some people like this person behind the counter really DO live under a rock!! Also, look how Sarah is so accommodating to all the people. She's among them with Willow, just as she is one of them. And THAT is what I love about Sarah Palin. She could be that woman next door, or the woman you meet at the grocery store. And yet, she is the GOVERNOR OF ALASKA!! What's so bad about having a REAL PERSON lead our country? Someone untouched by filthy and corruption? Wouldn't THAT be a breath of fresh air??

GOVERNOR PALIN'S PRESS RELEASE ON BIRTH OF HER FIRST GRANDCHILD!!!

Governor Welcomes Her First Grandchild
Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston Printer Friendly

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 08-212

Governor Sarah Palin Welcomes Her First Grandchild

December 31, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin has welcomed her first grandchild, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston on December 27.

“We are over the moon with the arrival of this healthy, beautiful baby,” Governor Palin said. “The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Bristol and Levi are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child. They are both hard workers, they’re very strong, and have faith they’ve made the right decision in setting aside their own interests to make this child their highest priority.”

Palin added, “When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair. Isn’t it just like God to turn those circumstances into such an amazing, joyful blessing when you ask Him to help you through?”

Bristol Palin said she “obviously discourages” teen pregnancy and knows that plans she previously made for herself will now forever be changed. “Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with – this isn’t ideal. But I’m fortunate to have a supportive family which is dealing with this together. Tripp is so perfectly precious; we love him with all our hearts. I can’t imagine life without him now.”

Bristol begins her final semester of high school next week where she’ll get her last credit needed to graduate. She looks forward to continuing her record of good grades and high achievement. Levi is continuing his online high school work in addition to working as an electrical apprentice on the North Slope.

Bill McAllister, the governor’s office communications director, adds: "The governor's office previously declined to comment to honor the family's wishes that the event remain as private as possible. However, the high volume of press inquiries, along with some erroneous information that was published, prompted the governor to make a statement."

CONSERVATIVE SNOBS ARE WRONG ABOUT PALIN (WHAT ABOUT THE LIBERAL ONES???)

Conservative Snobs Are Wrong About Palin
I know Maggie Thatcher. The two women have a lot in common.

By JOHN O'SULLIVAN (from THE WALL STREET JOURNAL)

Being listed in fourth place for Time magazine's "Person of the Year," as Sarah Palin was for 2008, sounds a little like being awarded the Order of Purity (Fourth Class). But it testifies to something important.

Martin KozlowskiThough regularly pronounced sick, dying, dead, cremated and scattered at sea, Mrs. Palin is still amazingly around. She has survived more media assassination attempts than Fidel Castro has survived real ones (Cuban official figure: 638). In her case, one particular method of assassination is especially popular -- namely, the desperate assertion that, in addition to her other handicaps, she is "no Margaret Thatcher."

Very few express this view in a calm or considered manner. Some employ profanity. Most claim to be conservative admirers of Mrs. Thatcher. Others admit they had always disliked the former British prime minister until someone compared her to "Sarracuda" -- at which point they suddenly realized Mrs. Thatcher must have been absolutely brilliant (at least by comparison).

Inevitably, Lloyd Bentsen's famous put-down of Dan Quayle in the 1988 vice-presidential debate is resurrected, such as by Paul Waugh (in the London Evening Standard) and Marie Cocco (in the Washington Post): "Newsflash! Governor, You're No Maggie Thatcher," sneered Mr. Waugh. Added Ms. Coco, "now we know Sarah Palin is no Margaret Thatcher -- and no Dan Quayle either!"

Jolly, rib-tickling stuff. But, as it happens, I know Margaret Thatcher. Margaret Thatcher is a friend of mine. And as a matter of fact, Margaret Thatcher and Sarah Palin have a great deal in common.

They are far from identical; they rose in different political systems requiring different skills. As a parliamentarian, Mrs. Thatcher needed forensic and debating skills which her training in Oxford politics and as a tax lawyer gave her. Mrs. Palin is a good speaker, but she needs to hone her debating tactics if she is to match those of the Iron Lady.

On the other hand, Mrs. Palin rose in state politics to jobs requiring executive ability. Her successful conduct of the negotiations with Canada, Canadian provinces and American states over the Alaska pipeline was a larger executive task than anything handled by Mrs. Thatcher until she entered the Cabinet and, arguably, until she became prime minister.

Mrs. Thatcher's most senior position until then had been education secretary in the government of Edward Heath where, as she conceded in her memoirs, she lacked real executive power. Her political influence within that government was so small that it took 17 months for her to get an interview with him. Even then, a considerate civil servant assured Heath that others would be present to make the meeting less "boring." Her main political legacy from that job was the vitriolic slogan, "Margaret Thatcher, Milk-Snatcher," thrown at her by the left because of a budgetary decision she had opposed to charge some children for school meals and milk. It was the single most famous thing about her when she defeated Heath for the Tory leadership in 1975.

At this point she became almost as "controversial" as Sarah Palin. Heath, for example, made it plain privately that he would not serve under her. And Sir Ian Gilmour, an intellectual leader of the Tory "wets," privately dismissed her as a "Daily Telegraph woman." There is no precise equivalent in American English, but "narrow, repressed suburbanite" catches the sense.

Mrs. Thatcher attracted such abuse for two reasons. First, she was seen by the chattering classes as representing a blend of provincial conservative values and market economics -- Middle England as it has come to be called -- against their own metropolitan liberalism. They thought this blend was an economic dead-end in a modern complex society and a political retreat into futile nostalgia. Of course, they failed to notice that their modern complex society was splintering under their statist burdens even as they denounced her extremism.

Second, Margaret Thatcher was not yet Margaret Thatcher. She had not won the 1979 election, recovered the Falklands, reformed trade union law, defeated the miners, and helped destroy Soviet communism peacefully.

Things like that change your mind about a girl. But they also take time, during which she had to turn her instinctive beliefs into intellectually coherent policies against opposition inside and outside her own party. Like Mrs. Palin this year, Mrs. Thatcher knew there were serious gaps in her knowledge, especially of foreign affairs. She recruited experts who shared her general outlook (such as Robert Conquest and Hugh Thomas) to tutor her on these things. Even so she often seemed very alone in the Tory high command.

As a parliamentary sketch writer for the Daily Telegraph (and a not very repressed suburbanite), I watched Mrs. Thatcher's progress as opposition leader. She had been a good performer in less exalted positions. But initially she faltered. Against the smooth, condescending Prime Minister James Callaghan in particular she had a hard time. In contrast to his chuckling baritone she sounded shrill when she attacked. But she lowered her tone (vocally not morally), took lessons in presentation from (among others) Laurence Olivier, and prepared diligently for every debate and Question Time.

I can still recall her breakthrough performance in a July 1977 debate on the Labour government's collapsing economy. She dominated the House of Commons so wittily that the next day the Daily Mail's acerbic correspondent, Andrew Alexander, began his report: "If Mrs. Thatcher were a racehorse, she would have been tested for drugs yesterday." She was now on the way to becoming the world-historical figure who today is the gold standard of conservative statesmanship.

But she has plenty of time, probably eight years, to analyze America's problems, recruit her own expert advice, and develop conservative solutions to them. She has obvious intelligence, drive, serious moral character, and a Reaganesque likability. Her likely Republican rivals such as Bobby Jindal and Mitt Romney, not to mention Barack Obama, have most of these same qualities too. But she shares with Mrs. Thatcher a very rare charisma. As Ronnie Millar, the latter's speechwriter and a successful playwright, used to say in theatrical tones: She may be depressed, ill-dressed and having a bad hair day, but when the curtain rises, out onto the stage she steps looking like a billion dollars. That's the mark of a star, dear boy. They rise to the big occasions.

Mrs. Palin had four big occasions in the late, doomed Republican campaign: her introduction by John McCain in Ohio, her speech at the GOP convention, her vice-presidential debate with Sen. Joe Biden, and her appearance on Saturday Night Live. With minimal preparation, she rose to all four of them. That's the mark of a star.

If conservative intellectuals, Republican operatives and McCain "handlers" can't see it, then so much the worse for them.

Mr. O'Sullivan is executive editor of Radio Free Europe-Radio Liberty in Prague, and a former special adviser to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. His book, "The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister" (Regnery), has just been published in paperback.

MY THOUGHTS:

Naturally since the election has been over for over two months, the heat isn't on Sarah as much as before. But I notice when I go through all the articles for each day, I will see articles about Sarah that I admit, I do not post. They are so petty. So mean. So totally unnecessary. It's like they hated her (and/or FEARED her) so much, they can't stop doing it! Now here is a man who knew Margaret Thatcher. From what I've seen/read of her, she is not a real, regular person like Sarah, but hey if this guy sees these similiarities, perhaps the FEAR IS what keeps the nasty comments floating!

SARAH INTERVIEWED POST-ELECTION ON "THE HOUR"

SARAH AND BRISTOL PALIN RELEASE STATEMENT ABOUT NEW BABY!!!

Sarah And Bristol Palin Release Statement: "Obviously Discourage" Teen Pregnancy, Situation "Isn't Ideal"
The Huffington Post
January 2, 2009

In a statement released Friday, Gov. Sarah Palin called the birth of her first grandchild an "amazing, joyful blessing," but noted that, "When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair."

The statement from the Alaska governor's office came almost a week after the birth of Tripp Johnston on December 27, and was prompted by "the high volume of press inquiries, along with some erroneous information that was published," according to Gov. Palin's communications director.

Also in the release, the governor's daughter, Bristol Palin, is quoted saying she "obviously discourages" teen pregnancy and that "Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with - this isn't ideal. But I'm fortunate to have a supportive family which is dealing with this together."

Governor Sarah Palin Welcomes Her First Grandchild

Governor Sarah Palin has welcomed her first grandchild, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston on December 27.

"We are over the moon with the arrival of this healthy, beautiful baby," Governor Palin said. "The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Bristol and Levi are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child. They are both hard workers, they're very strong, and have faith they've made the right decision in setting aside their own interests to make this child their highest priority."

Palin added, "When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair. Isn't it just like God to turn those circumstances into such an amazing, joyful blessing when you ask Him to help you through?"

Bristol Palin said she "obviously discourages" teen pregnancy and knows that plans she previously made for herself will now forever be changed. "Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with - this isn't ideal. But I'm fortunate to have a supportive family which is dealing with this together. Tripp is so perfectly precious; we love him with all our hearts. I can't imagine life without him now."

Bristol begins her final semester of high school next week where she'll get her last credit needed to graduate. She looks forward to continuing her record of good grades and high achievement. MY THOUGHTS:

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PALIN AND JOHNSTON FAMILIES on the birth of Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston on December 27. It is obvious that Governor Palin's 18 year old daughter is wiser than her years. Best Wishes to both families and a Happy and Healthy New Year (and baby!)!!
